This Year's Model Updates:

The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • get the 5.3 v8 - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I got the 04 2dr regular cab silverado 1500 with a plow/tow package 5.3 v8. It was my first truck. I used it for plowing this year and it performed awsome. I suggest getting the 5.3 v8 it has alot of balls. The 4.8 v8 is a dog, so spend the extra cash and you wont be sorry. The miles per gallons suck but its worth the power. If youre gonna plow, get the hevy duty 2500 beacuse the suspension is better. The truck feels like a car when youre driving it. But since im a chevy fan dont take my advice.

Nice ride/drive and comfortable FOR a big truck. Easy to get around and work with. Parking not bad for a truck. Gas mileage to power ratio very disapionting. I would have gone with the V8 if I had known the gas miles would be so bad anyway. Overall though I feel like it is a lot of truck for the money.

After having to take Chrysler Corp/Daimler- whatever to court for the LemonLaw on a $40000 piece of garbage- The Chevy is better than the 2002 Cadillac Deville I traded as well as the 2 Hondas or 3 Acuras or 3 Cadillacs I have had in 8 years. It is reliable comfortable and holds anything I can put in it. Buy One now.

good, has but would be better with more power of a bigger engine. I have lots of big dog parts on my silverado so it has more power because there in not enought stock.

This truck has been as reliabile as they come. Had this truck for over a year know, not a lick of trouble. Electronic 4wd drive has work well. Been at dealer for normal service only. Hey Im tring to beat it up but I cant. Cabin feels to confining. need help here. Has to be the low point of this truck.

  • A Quality Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I have owned many Chevrolets in my life and this truck is one of my favorites. The ride is nice and the power is unmatched by many other trucks offered by other brands. The style is unlike any other truck. Chevrolet is doing a good job of putting out quality trucks. I use my truck for work and I am never disapointed. I take it for long trips and stay comfortable and never worry about breaking down.

After 2 1/2 years of ownership experience and 40K+ of driving this truck continues to be one of if not the best vehicle Ive owned. For a full size 4x4 5000lbs. truck, gas mileage is very good. Minding the speed limit will net 21 MPG on the interstate. Only one problem in ownership, bad power steering pump replaced under warranty around 10K miles. I grew up in a blue oval family and have owned different makes and models of all vehicles, foreign and domestic. As stated above I have no regrets about this truck. I would highly recommend GM products based on this ownership experience. (I wouldnt have done so just a few years ago.) Great job Chevy. Keep on making these classic bowties!
